NADA appeals to the CAS in the Portner case

17.07.2024

The National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) is appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case of handball player Nikola Portner.

The presidential board of the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) announced on 25 June 2024 that it had unanimously decided to acquit the athlete and lift the suspension imposed on 11 April 2024 following a positive doping test with immediate effect. The final sanction notice from the HBL presidential board has been send to NADA Germany on 16 July 2024. In this case, NADA Germany sees a fundamental need for review and clarification and is therefore appealing to CAS.
