NADA and DOKR extend contract for another 3 years

31.03.2022

The National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) and the German Olympic Committee for  Equestrian Sports (DOKR) have extended their contract for the performance of medication controls on horses in training by 3 years. This means that NADA Germany will continue to test horses out-of-competition in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.

"The medication controls in the field of horses represent a globally unique project that has proven its worth in Germany for ten years now. The system has become established and equine out-of-competition controls are now an integral part of Olympic equestrian sport. We are looking forward to further cooperation for animal welfare and clean sport," said Dr Andrea Gotzmann, Chairperson of NADA Germany's Executive Board.

"The system of out-of-competition controls for our squad horses, which we have set up together with NADA Germany, is indispensable. It is an important element of fair equestrian sport and serves as a model for other nations," added DOKR Managing Director Dr Dennis Peiler.

The agreement between DOKR and NADA Germany was concluded in April 2011. The medication checks on horses are financed by the DOKR. Squad horses in the Olympic disciplines of show jumping, dressage and eventing are tested out-of-competition. The specifications for the tests are laid down in the "Standard for the Performance of Medication Checks on Horses in Training". This is based on the specifications of the National Anti-Doping Code (NADC) and the provisions of the Performance Testing Regulations for National Equestrian Sports (LPO).

NADA Germany has also been carrying out the out-of-competition and in-competition tests of equestrians in the Olympic disciplines for several years. The tests of horses in national competition are the responsibility of the German Equestrian Federation (FN)
