Dr. Lars Mortsiefer, Vorstandsmitglied der NADA und Chefjustitiar, ist am Freitag zum Vorsitzenden der Advisory Group on Legal Issues (Beirat für rechtliche Angelegenheiten) in der Monitoring Group des Europarates gewählt worden. "Dies ist eine große Chance, um auf internationaler Ebene über den Europarat die rechtlichen Themen der Anti-Doping-Arbeit aktiv mitzugestalten. Vor allem die aktuelle Überarbeitung des Welt Anti Doping Codes, der Datenschutz sowie die Stärkung der Athletenrechte sind wichtige Aufgaben, die in Europa vorangebracht werden müssen", sagte Mortsiefer zur Wahl.
Die Monitoring Group des Europarates ist dafür verantwortlich, die Umsetzung des Anti-Doping-Regelwerks zu beobachten und die europäischen Interessen gegenüber der WADA zu vertreten. Sie setzt sich zusammen aus internationalen Experten aus dem Anti-Doping-Bereich und der Politik. Um die unterschiedlichen Themenbereiche adäquat zu diskutieren und zu begutachten, gibt es vier sogenannte Specialised Groups: die Advisory Group on Compliance (Beirat für Compliance), die Advisory Group on Education (Beirat für Bildung/Prävention), die Advisory Group on Legal Issues (Beirat für rechtliche Angelegenheiten) und die Advisory Group on Science (Beirat für Wissenschaft).

Mortsiefer elected as Chair of the Advisory Group on Legal Issues of the Council of Europe
Dr. Lars Mortsiefer, Member of NADA's Executive Board and Chief Legal Officer, was elected as Chair of the Advisory Group on Legal Issues in the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe on Friday. "This is a great opportunity to play an active role in shaping the legal aspects of anti-doping work internationally through the Council of Europe, in particular the current revision of the World Anti-Doping Code, data protection and strengthening athlete rights must be taken forward by Europe, " Mortsiefer said.
The Council of Europes Monitoring Group is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the anti-doping rules and advocating European interests vis-à-vis WADA. It is composed of international experts from the anti-doping sector and politics. To adequately discuss and assess the various topics, there are four specialized groups: the Advisory Group on Compliance, the Advisory Group on Education, the Advisory Group on Legal Issues and the Advisory Group on Science.
