Doping prevention: Final workshop on the No2Doping project

02.06.2022

The No2Doping project, in which the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) also participated, ended with a scientific symposium and an interactive final workshop on 20 May in Leipzig. The aim of the project is to develop, implement and evaluate an evidence-based psychosocial intervention aimed at minimising doping intentions among young athletes.

The symposium, organised by the Chair of Sport Psychology at the University of Leipzig together with the Federal Institute of Sport Science (BISp) and NADA Germany, focused on the scientific perspective with three presentations in the morning, while in the afternoon selected exercises from the No2Doping project were conducted in a workshop. In a concluding round table, Prof. Dr Anne-Marie Elbe (University of Leipzig, Sports Psychology), Dr Marc Wonneberger (BISp), Christian Dahms (LSB Saxony) and Irene Winkemann (NADA Germany) discussed the topics of teaching values in doping prevention, current trends in doping prevention work and cooperation with associations, clubs and schools. Around 40 participants were welcomed on site.

The project, which runs from January 2019 to June 2022, aims to develop, implement and evaluate a values-based programme consisting of exercises and teaching materials, among other things, to minimise doping intentions among young athletes. The programme developed focuses on moral variables associated with doping. NADA Germany has supported the project in terms of content over the entire project period and has given the University of Leipzig access to selected prevention measures as part of the project. The scientific project results and content will be incorporated into NADA Germany's doping prevention practice.
